Born in a village near Tangutur in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, Gopichand is the younger son of filmmaker T. Krishna. His upbringing was marked by the untimely demise of his father when Gopichand was just 8 years old. He pursued his education at Nil Desperandum in Ongole and later at Ramakrishna Mission school, Chennai, before undertaking mechanical engineering studies in Russia. Gopichand’s familial ties to the film industry include his elder brother Premchand, who ventured into directing before a tragic car accident claimed his life. Despite facing visa constraints, Gopichand was unable to attend his brother’s funeral. Additionally, he has a younger sister who practices dentistry. Following his engineering pursuits, Gopichand decided to honor his father’s legacy by embarking on a career in cinema. Equipping himself with skills through a dialogue modulation course, he formed close bonds with industry peers such as Prabhas, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati, the latter two being the founders of UV Creations, a prominent production house in Telugu cinema.
