Shamna Kasim, popularly known as Poorna, is a versatile Indian actress, dancer, and model, renowned for her work in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema. With a career spanning over two decades, she has become a household name, gracing the screens of both films and television. Born and raised in Kochi, Kerala, Shamna pursued her education alongside her burgeoning career. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in English through correspondence while actively pursuing opportunities in the entertainment industry. Shamna’s journey in the film industry began in 2004, where she appeared in various Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu movies, initially receiving recognition through roles in average-grossing films. However, her breakthrough came with the Kannada movie “Josh,” which enjoyed tremendous success, completing 100 days in theaters. In the mid-2010s, Shamna garnered attention for her portrayal of ghostly characters, earning her the moniker “the ghost queen of South films.” Transitioning into the 2010s, Shamna embraced experimental roles, starring in successful films like “Avunu” (2012) and its sequel “Avunu 2” (2015), which further solidified her position in the industry. Her appearance in “Raju Gari Gadhi” (2015) proved to be a surprise hit, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
