Meka Srikanth

Meka Srikanth, born on March 23, 1968, is an eminent Indian actor renowned for his prolific contributions to Telugu cinema. With a career spanning over three decades, Srikanth has left an indelible mark on the industry, appearing in more than 120 films. His stellar performances have earned him accolades including a state Nandi Award and a Filmfare Award South. Srikanth’s notable films include “Swarabhishekam,” which clinched the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu in 2004, and “Virodhi,” which premiered at the Indian Panorama section of the 2011 International Film Festival of India. Additionally, “Sri Rama Rajyam” received a special screening at the same festival in November 2011. His versatility extends beyond Telugu cinema, with appearances in Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil films. Born in Gangavathi, Karnataka, Srikanth hails from a family with roots in Andhra Pradesh. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Karnataka University, Dharwad, he pursued his passion for acting and relocated to Chennai to pursue a career in films. In 1990, Srikanth enrolled at the Madhu Film and TV Institute of Acting in Hyderabad, completing a one-year course in acting. He made his acting debut in 1991 with the film “People’s Encounter” and initially portrayed minor roles as a villain and supporting artist. However, he rose to prominence as a lead actor with the film “One by Two.” Notably, his breakthrough came with the hit film “Taj Mahal” in 1995, marking a significant milestone in his career. Throughout his illustrious journey, Srikanth has collaborated with esteemed directors such as S.V. Krishna Reddy, Krishna Vamsi, and K. Viswanath, delivering memorable performances in hits like “Varasudu,” “Khadgam,” and “Shankar Dada M.B.B.S.” His versatility and dedication to his craft have solidified his status as a beloved figure in Telugu cinema, earning him a dedicated fan base and widespread acclaim.
