Jyothika Saravanan, formerly known as Jyothika Sadanah, born on October 18, 1978, is an acclaimed Indian actress and film producer prominent in Tamil cinema, with notable appearances in Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films as well. She is celebrated for her versatility and has garnered numerous awards, including a National Film Award, four Filmfare Awards South, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and the prestigious Kalaimamani Award. Regarded as one of the most prolific actresses in Tamil cinema, Jyothika has consistently been praised for her impactful performances and is widely recognized as one of the finest actresses in South India. Jyothika embarked on her acting journey with the Hindi film “Doli Saja Ke Rakhna” in 1997, directed by Priyadarshan. However, it was her debut in Tamil cinema with “Vaali” in 1999 and in Telugu cinema with “Tagore” in 2003, opposite Chiranjeevi, that marked her rise to prominence. Her portrayal in “Vaali” earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut ? South, setting the stage for a successful career ahead. Over the years, Jyothika delivered a string of successful films, including “Kushi” (2000), “Dumm Dumm Dumm” (2001), “Poovellam Un Vasam” (2001), “Kaakha Kaakha” (2004), “Perazhagan” (2004), “Chandramukhi” (2005), and “Mozhi” (2007). At the peak of her career, Jyothika took a hiatus after marrying Tamil actor Suriya in September 2006. However, she made a remarkable comeback with “36 Vayadhinile” in 2015, receiving strong reviews for her performance and winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress ? South. Subsequently, she appeared in a series of women-centric films such as “Magalir Mattum” (2017), “Naachiyaar” (2018), “Kaatrin Mozhi” (2018), “Raatchasi” (2019), and “Ponmagal Vandhal” (2020). Additionally, she played a lead role in Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam” (2018).
