Jayasurya, born on 31 August 1978, is a versatile talent in the Indian film industry, renowned for his multifaceted contributions to Malayalam cinema. With a career spanning over two decades, Jayasurya has excelled as an actor, distributor, sponsor, model, film producer, playback singer, and impressionist. His repertoire boasts more than 100 films and a multitude of accolades, including a National Film Award, three Kerala State Film Awards, and two Filmfare Awards South, alongside the prestigious Best Actor recognition at the Cincinnati Film Festival in the United States. While predominantly active in Malayalam cinema, Jayasurya has also made notable appearances in Tamil films. Jayasurya’s journey in the entertainment industry began as a mimicry artist and television show host on Malayalam channels. He ventured into acting with a background role in the 1999 film “Pathram,” gradually gaining prominence with his breakthrough portrayal of a mute character in “Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan” (2002). Throughout the 2000s, Jayasurya carved a niche for himself with his versatile performances, showcasing his comedic flair in films like “Swapnakkoodu” (2003), “Pulival Kalyanam” (2003), and “Chocolate” (2007), as well as his impactful villainous roles in “Classmates” (2006), “Arabikkatha” (2007), and “Kangaroo” (2007). He showcased his versatility with compelling performances in “Iyobinte Pusthakam” (2014), “Lukka Chuppi” (2015), and “Captain” (2018), while also maintaining his popularity with comedy films like “Punyalan Agarbattis” (2013), “Amar Akbar Anthony” (2015), and the “Aadu” series.
