Veeramachaneni Jagapathi Chowdary, known professionally as Jagapathi Babu or Jaggu Bhai, is a renowned Indian actor who has predominantly worked in Telugu cinema. He has also appeared in a few Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films. In a career spanning over 33 years, Babu has appeared in over 170 feature films, and has received four Filmfare Awards and seven state Nandi Awards. Babu was born on February 12, 1962, in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is the son of Telugu film producer and director V. B. Rajendra Prasad. Babu made his acting debut in 1977 as a child artist in the Telugu film “Sri Vinayaka Vijayamu”. He went on to play supporting roles in several films before making his breakthrough as a lead actor in the 1989 film “Simhaasanam”. Babu has since starred in a number of successful films, including “Antam”, “Gaayam”, “Pedarayudu”, “Pokiri”, and “Rangasthalam”. He is known for his versatility as an actor, and has played a wide range of roles, from action heroes to romantic leads to comedians. Babu has won numerous awards for his acting, including four Filmfare Awards and seven state Nandi Awards. He is one of the most popular and respected actors in Telugu cinema.
